Chemical Industry ERP Showdown:

Hi. I'm Larry Blitz, editor of Technology Evaluation Centers' (TEC) Vendor Showdown series. Today's Showdown is a little different from those we've run in the past. It is based on an industry-specific case study, and involves five enterprise resource planning (ERP) vendors competing for the business. We hope you find this Vendor Showdown helpful and informative, and we invite your comments and questions at .

Introduction

Today's Showdown looks at an evaluation conducted by a company in the chemical industry. This company produces specialized ingredients for the food industry, and it was interested in evaluating a new, full-blown process ERP system to replace an outdated legacy system that had been patched together over a period of years.

Five vendors were selected for the evaluation: Infor ERP LX, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Lawson M3 for Process Manufacturing, SAP's mySAP ERP, and SSI's TROPOS. All the results presented here were determined by TEC's eBestMatch decision support system, based on the latest request for information (RFI) supplied to us by the five vendors.
