Work centers and machines are specific production areas that can be considered as one unit for purposes of capacity requirements planning and detailed scheduling. These centers consist of one or more people or machines with similar capabilitites.

- Assigns subcontracting codes to work centers
- Stores rates codes for labor, machine, and overhead, for each work center
- Tracks work center information, such as items and operations
- Backflushing labor for crews at different rates
- Calculates operation rate based on percentage allocations for operations and production activities
- Defines queue times by item and operation
- Internal and external queue times
- Indicates the number of machines in a work center
- Defines the number of hours per day a work station is available
- Work center files can be tracked, maintained, and updated online
- Generates reports on work centers capacity, outputs, runtimes, etc.
- Users can create item-specific routings
- Determines the capacity of machines and labor in hours, minutes, and units
- Calculates labor burden rates by machine, usually as a percentage
