Production Schedule Verification: Most distribution and light manufacturing systems stop at an analysis of inventory availability. For many users that may be sufficient, but larger organizations, particularly more sophisticated manufacturers need to carry the availability analysis one or more steps further. This question lists two such steps. The Finite Scheduling question asks if the system checks the capacity of the facilities to produce the order within the time frame requested. Here machine capacities and work center capacities are checked. An Available to Promise analysis looks only at raw materials to determine if they will be available at the time they will be required to meet the proposed order while still meeting the requirements of orders already booked in the system.
