Lifecycle Process
Lifecycle processes manage the transition of an item, design, or other object through the design and development processes. More formal stage-gate processes may be used and are covered independently in the product development category.

Routing and Approval Process
On-line routing and approval is considered a subset of the workflow process. Some PLM applications handle routing and approval outside of the standard workflow, so the individual requirements are identified independently because they are very important for PLM.
