Blackboard Presents New Update for Blackboard Learn

bb.jpgBlackboard released a new update for its Blackboard Learn platform. Improved usability appears to be the major addition to the experience proposed by Blackboard to its end users—both instructors and students.

Blackboard employed results from extensive user testing and research to advance the usability of its solution. A centralized view of course or activity updates was introduced to 'My Blackboard.' Emulating the social platforms interfaces, Blackboard Learn displays a "little red '1' in the top right-hand corner of the screen" for instructors receiving their students' assignments. Also, the newly added two-way text–messaging functionality simplifies the interaction between students and instructors.

Blackboard strives to offer a comprehensive social learning option, as the new version allows students to create personal profiles. In future releases, Blackboard intends to introduce interactivity features between student profiles as well as provide students with the capability to create work and study groups that they can manage independently from their instructors.
