Dassault Systèmes, provider of 3D design, 3D digital mock-up, and product lifecycle management (PLM) software solutions, has acquired an 84 percent controlling interest in Realtime Technology (RTT), for cash. Based in Munich and with 750 employees, RTT provides professional high-end 3D visualization software, marketing solutions, and computer-generated imagery services for the marketing automation market.

The transaction is subject to customary conditions, including the approval of antitrust authorities in Germany and Austria. Dassault Systèmes intends to launch in a tender offer in order to purchase up to 100 percent of RTT’s share capital.

This acquisition will include RTT’s software division, known for its DeltaGen, PictureBook, POS Configurator, and other solutions, and its marketing consulting services. It will also include subsidiary Bunkspeed, with its line of rendering software. RTT’s impressive list of customers includes Hugo Boss, adidas, Airbus, Audi, BMW, Daimler, Electrolux, Eurocopter, Ferrari, General Motors, Harley-Davidson, Nissan, Porsche, The North Face, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

RTT rounds out Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE strategy that starts with the consumer and ends with the consumer. It will be interesting to watch whether RTT’s visualization and rendering technologies will be used in Dassault Systèmes’ product design and engineering products, where the vendor currently embeds AutoVue by Oracle.
