Del Monte Foods Deploys Kenandy ERP

Kenandy, Inc., a provider of cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions for global enterprises, recently announced that Natural Balance Pet Foods, Inc., a recently acquired, wholly owned subsidiary of Del Monte Foodswent live on Kenandy ERP on the acquisition closing date. Del Monte Foods is one of the U.S.'s largest producers, distributors, and marketers of premium-quality branded food and pet products, generating US$3.8 billion in net sales in FY 2013. This was an example of Kenandy ERP being deployed in a two-tier ERP setup. Del Monte explored a new divisional ERP system because the legacy on-premises system (BPCS, now known as Infor ERP LX) was complex (and yet with lax financials controls), difficult to upgrade, and costly to deploy to new lines of business. The company was looking for a new solution that would facilitate rapid integration of new acquisitions and provide a platform for business growth.

Del Monte decided that Natural Balance would be the company’s first Kenandy ERP deployment. Kenandy started to work on the implementation process in tandem with Del Monte's acquisition team before the acquisition closed. The process involved making the system compliant with the way Del Monte does business, including moving to the full corporate chart of accounts, meeting the company’s standards for internal controls over financial reporting, and integrating with its transportation providers. Thus, Natural Balance went live 90 minutes after the acquisition close.

Natural Balance is using Kenandy's newest version, which includes global enterprise features, such as multicompany, multi-segment, and multicurrency. It also handles traceability and provides greater automation throughout the enterprise. Del Monte plans to realize several benefits from the Kenandy deployment at Natural Balance, including better visibility through a single source of data and the elimination of many manual processes. The company also expects that the Kenandy system will help enhance productivity in shipping, receiving, quality management, and production.

Del Monte has made several acquisitions, so the company has several systems it plans to migrate to Kenandy ERP over time. One reason why the company chose Kenandy is because it is on the Salesforce Platform, and Del Monte is likely to head in the direction of’s customer relationship management (CRM) system.
