Deltek announced that C3 Systems (C3) selected Deltek First, Deltek’s cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, to replace its accounting and time management systems. Deltek is a recognized leader of enterprise software and information solutions for government contractors and professional services firms.
Deltek First delivers the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance, contract management, payroll processing, and automated accounting processes needed by C3. C3 supports federal, state, and local government customers in the United States by providing management consulting, software and system engineering, and other information technology (IT) services.
C3 recognized it had significant challenges with its former time management and QuickBooks accounting systems, which did not meet the needs of its growing business. The firm was unable to integrate the two systems and also experienced significant issues getting a clear picture of the business as the company grew. Not only were the systems inadequate, but also “The level of customer service our vendors were providing us also declined steeply – we no longer wanted to use these inadequate systems to run our business,” says Charles Thomas, president & chief executive officer (CEO) of C3 Systems.
C3 also needed an expedited implementation—it needed to be up and running on Deltek First within 10 calendar days. This was needed, as there were recent contract wins that required a time management system that could properly manage the new contracts. The Deltek partner Premier Consulting & Integration (PCI) used its expedited implementation process to “stand up” the Deltek First platform for C3 in 10 days. “The Deltek First cloud solution affords us the ability to quickly respond to customer needs and provide a best in class implementation and training to support a world-class software solution,” says Marty McGann, president and founder of PCI.
The stories on cloud ERP system implementations with rapid system implementations like this show one of the most dramatic benefits of cloud solutions, particularly for small businesses. For an on-premise solution, the time to procure and stand up the server and its software would be 6 to 10 times that of this cloud implementation. And with a company like Deltek behind its cloud offering, customers don’t need to worry about the vendor being there to support them for the long haul.
