Design Within Reach Selects NetSuite as Omnichannel Retail Platform

NetSuite recently announced that Design Within Reach, Inc., a multichannel retailer of authentic modern furniture, selected NetSuite as its core business management platform to support the company's rapid growth. The retailer, renowned for making authentic modern furniture from the world's top designers available to the public (including the nation's leading hospitality brands), plans to begin by leveraging NetSuite to run its core financials/enterprise resource planning (ERP), inventory management, point-of-sale (POS), and order management processes.
 
Design Within Reach reportedly replaced a homegrown, on-premise ERP system that lacked the integration and functionality to support growth and satisfy both consumers and business-to-business (B2B) clients. Selected over separate best-of-breed ERP, order management, and POS systems (Epicor, Tomax Corp., and KWI being some), NetSuite should give Design Within Reach a modern cloud platform that aligns with the company's principles of modern design. Similarly, NetSuite's cloud architecture can scale as the company continues to grow.
 
Also a decisive factor here was NetSuite’s functional retail ERP completeness in the cloud, in part coming from some previous smart acquisitions (see TEC article). NetSuite's unified data set should give management access to real-time customer, financial, sales, orders, and inventory information to run operations in an omnichannel retail environment that includes an e-commerce storefront, 40 retail Studios across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and a retail outlet in Secaucus, New Jersey. Cloud access is expected to enable Design Within Reach to provide an consistent customer experience no matter the location or channel.
