Epicor Eagle’s Soaring Retail Excitement

It appears that Epicor Software Corp. now has two retail product lines, starting with the better known Epicor Retail product suite for soft-goods retailers (the former CRS and NSB offerings), which competes with SAP, Oracle, JDA Software, and other leading retail software providers. The other is Epicor Eagle, a product suite for hard-goods specialty retailers (a former Activant offering). Current Epicor Eagle–specific competitors are Celerant Technology, CounterPoint by Radiant Systems, Paladin Data Corp., ECi Software Solutions, and NCR’s point-of-sale (POS) offerings.

Epicor recently announced that Cutter's Mill Pet Store, a natural pet supply company, has chosen Epicor Eagle to enhance customers' in-store experience and expand business operations. As a five-store specialty pet supply chain located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the mission of Cutter's Mill Pet Store is to provide quality-of-life products and services for pets and their owners.

Since 2005, the retailer’s innovative, easy-to-navigate pet stores have been creatively stocked with specialty pet accessories and a broad spectrum of more than 75 brands of products for dogs, cats, birds, and other small animals, not to mention the company also offers on-site pet adoptions and special order services. Cutter's Mill Pet Store prides itself in its customer-oriented shopping environment and innovative business processes, and Epicor Eagle is expected to provide dynamic reporting features and easy access to information for the employees. Limited training and help tools, fixed reporting, and restricted marketing programming were a few concerns that reportedly steered Cutter's Mill Pet Store away from its previous solution provider.

In addition, Epicor announced several new pricing, inventory control, POS, and other capabilities that are now available through Epicor Eagle for the Aftermarket software, a business management solution for single- and multi-store automotive parts businesses. Epicor Eagle for the Aftermarket now features a "Pricing Store" that enables users to automatically import and manage supplier pricing files before putting them into effect. Users also can now quickly apply range-and-step pricing formulas to specific classes of products to enhance margin performance.

An additional new feature enables counter professionals to immediately check vendor pricing and availability for non-stocked parts within the Epicor LaserCat 3 eCatalog interface rather than having to return to the POS screen to launch a warehouse inquiry. In a raft of other time-saving new capabilities, Epicor Eagle for the Aftermarket software now also includes the latest version of Epicor Compass Analytics, which offers faster page loads and queries, additional reporting fields, and an array of other enhanced capabilities.
