Epicor Enhances Its Major Wholesale Distribution ERP Product

Based on a recent slew of announcements by Epicor, both in terms of customer wins and product releases (across the original Epicor business as well as in the former Activant and Solarsoft businesses), I expect the upcoming Epicor Insights 2013 conference will be an interesting multiday event. Most recently, Epicor announced the general availability of version 12.11 of the Epicor Prophet 21 wholesale distribution enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Prophet 21, which came from former Activant, is a broad solution for wholesale distributors, particularly in the electrical, fastener, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), industrial, plumbing, and janitorial industries.

The offering includes modules for quote and order management, customer relationship management (CRM), inventory management, warehouse management, purchasing, financial management, strategic pricing, electronic data interchange (EDI), reporting, and analysis. There are more than 1,200 companies running their businesses on Epicor Prophet 21.

Currently available in  several countries, Epicor Prophet 21 v. 12.11 continues to expand its global reach with the addition of country-specific functionality (CSF) for Mexico in this new release (supporting both North American distributors who are expanding into that country, as well as the unique requirements of regional businesses).

New functional modules and capabilities in this release include the following:

  • Sales Master Inquiry (SMI)—a tool for distributors to analyze customer' revenues and bookings.

  • DynaChange Tab Creator—for Epicor Portal Designer users, allowing them to map retrieval arguments for easier access to portals

  • Container Building functionality—for additional flexibility when dealing with overseas suppliers, to help control the flow of goods coming from overseas and better manage incoming inventory

  • Doc-link for Epicor—an Integrated Document Management System (IDMS) by Altec designed to increase productivity and reduce paper handling for accounts payable processes
