Epicor Introduces Commerce Connect Platform for Epicor ERP 10

At the recent Epicor Insights 2014 user conference, Epicor introduced Epicor Commerce Connect, an e-commerce platform management solution for business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) companies. Epicor Commerce Connect aims to enable Epicor ERP customers to develop unique Web sites quickly and manage them easily.
Epicor Commerce Connect is a toolset (with a rewritten intellectual property coming from the Solarsoft acquisition) and connector to the popular eBay Magento open commerce platform that is developed, implemented, and supported by Epicor. Fully integrated to the also recently unveiled Epicor ERP version 10, the solution eliminates the need to maintain a separate product database and provides streamlined access to ordering, product, or account information including customer specific pricing, inventory levels, marketing, and customer service processes—all in real time using ERP data that can be viewed online. Additionally, Epicor Commerce Connect provides gateways to Android and iOS mobile devices with responsive design that automatically formats the Web site to the size of the screen.
Epicor has always had a number of disparate e-commerce products (own and partners'), but this solution can now be used both as turnkey and for customized use (special web store designs) via e-commerce consultants. Epicor’s retail group has already had the Magento partnership, but this is not the same platform and technology as Commerce Connect.
Epicor Commerce Connect includes a configurator module that provides a mechanism to display product options on one page—allowing customers to easily select product specifications, streamlining quoting, pricing, and order management. Epicor Commerce Connect is available immediately worldwide with Epicor ERP version 10, and is scheduled to be available with Epicor Prophet 21 and Epicor Eclipse distribution enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions in the summer of 2014.
