Epicor Releases New Epicor LumberTrack Offering

The announcement on April 1, 2013, entitled “Epicor Announces Newest Release of Epicor LumberTrack,” might have sounded like an April Fool’s joke to anyone unfamiliar with this esoteric offering. But Epicor LumberTrack (formerly from Progressive Solutions) is indeed a comprehensive business software solution for lumber and wood product manufacturers and wholesale distributors (hardwood and softwood sawmills, panel mills, value-added remanufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and brokers).

Progressive Solutions was in business for more than 20 years, and it was recognized on numerous occasions as one of the top 100 employers in Canada and top 20 in British Columbia. In 1995, the decision was made to focus on systems for the forest products industry, and out of that came LumberTrack, which has been the leading vertical ERP system in the marketplace.

In addition, the company’s BisTrack solution is industry-specific lumber and building materials (LBM) dealer software for distributors of lumber, building materials, and construction supplies. Both LumberTrack and BisTrack are successfully sold in North America and the UK.

The third offering from Progressive is SecureHosting, which provides the facility for customers to run the software in a secure hosted environment, whereby Progressive owned all hardware and was responsible for all maintenance. Progressive Solutions was acquired by Solarsoft in 2012, which was in turn acquired by Epicor later the same year.

The latest release of LumberTrack improves usability and access to data by allowing users to customize the information displayed on their screens according to their roles and preferences, and by allowing users to define new fields/functions and more readily interchange data with other applications. Other improvements include support for multiple languages (including languages that require double-byte character sets such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese), the ability to work on multiple windows at the same time, and added functionality for lumber exporters in a new letter-of-credit module.

Epicor LumberTrack operates on Microsoft SQL Server and has 100 customers currently operating on the product.
