Ford Extends Its Engagement With Vistaar

The price management solutions provider Vistaar Technologies, Inc. recently announced that its long-time customer Ford Motor Company is extending its successful Vistaar implementation. With the new project, Ford plans to create a standardized global materials cost forecasting (MCF) process across its four global regions. The global MCF process supports the mission and vision of the “One Ford” transformation program, which leverages Ford’s global brand and scale to operate as one team and one company.

Ford has been using Vistaar for a few years on a quite large pricing management project, and this constitutes the first phase of the Vistaar implementation. This new project should extend Vistaar’s contract and functional footprint—instead of having different pricing software instances for each region, Ford is rolling it up into a global instance to support a common global process consistent with the aforementioned "One Ford" vision.

Vistaar is also increasing the sophistication of the cost forecasting algorithms to increase the accuracy of forecasts. This undertaking, which incorporates similar data to a pricing process (and can be considered a pricing-related demand management process), could be a good demonstration of the value of Vistaar’s platform. These demand management pricing capabilities should give companies like PROS Inc. and Vendavo a run for their money.
