I Did It the iWay

After attending the iWay seminar on Enterprise Information Management (EIM) yesterday, I was thinking that a CIO who implemented their system might sing the following after the implementation:

[Editor's note: sincere apologies to Frank Sinatra.]

I did it the iWay

And now, the end* is near;
And now it’s done - the integration.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
We were so close from devastation.

I did all that they said.
I even built a data warehouse;
And more, much more than this,
I did it the iWay.

And bugs, they had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And finally got to automation.

I planned each vital process;
Each careful step along the framework,
But more, much more than this,
I did it the iWay.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure they knew
When we preferred them out of view.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
We didn’t pay and made them shout.
We faced it all and we moved on;
And did it the iWay.

We’ve loved them, laughed and cried,
With them, at them; my mind I was losing.
And now, that data is inside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think we did all that;
And may I say - not in the CFO’s way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it the iWay.

For what’s a CIO, what has he got?
If not some tools that he has bought,
Whenever the controller feels
To sign a check to one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it the iWay!
