Infor and VMware Team Up for ERP Delivery Choice

Infor announced a collaboration result with VMware through which the parties confirmed the compatibility of Infor's flagship enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite with a variety of VMware products, including VMware vSphere, VMware vCloud Director, and VMware vFabric. Through this collaboration Infor and VMware have jointly developed a reference architecture for Infor10 ION middleware and Infor LN. This setup provides customers with a full-fledged Infor LN ERP system that can be used as a virtual appliance, incorporating built-in security, performance management, and monitoring.

The Infor LN virtual appliance can be deployed to on-premise infrastructures or cloud quickly. In addition, with the open standards and open source–based components of VMware vFabric, the virtual appliance should reduce deployment costs and operation expenses to help lower customers’ total cost of ownership (TCO). While Infor has a number of truly multitenant cloud products, primarily for some “edge” applications (e.g., expense management), by making its ERP applications compatible with VMware infrastructure, Infor wants to enable customers to take advantage of the many benefits of virtualization and cloud.

Since Infor products that are VMware-certified support cloud and on-premise infrastructures using the same code base to provide identical functionality, collaborating with VMware is another way Infor helps customers reduce risks and IT costs. For example, Infor customers should be better able to consolidate IT infrastructures, gain efficiency and cost reduction, and attain a higher degree of deployment portability.
