Per Intuit’s most recent Small Business Employment Index, the employment rate is gradually improving. Intuit and LinkedIn have agreed to host the first “Hire Smart” event for small businesses looking to hire their first employees. This free event at Intuit’s HQ in Mountain View, California, is slated for April 27, 2013.

After attending a number of practical sessions, event attendees will walk away with:

  • Expert advice from one-on-one conversations with accountants, human resources (HR) specialists, lawyers, and other successful small businesses

  • The tools one needs to get started, including three free months of Intuit Online Payroll and a LinkedIn “First Hire” package, including free premium LinkedIn Talent Finder access and special rates for posting jobs (estimated total value of more than $400)

  • Insights from guest speakers like Bill Rancic, an entrepreneur, best-selling author, and TV personality (remember the first “Apprentice” season); Rhonda Abrams, a USA Today columnist and renowned author of more than 15 books focusing on small business; Intuit CEO Brad Smith; and LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner

This event is less a formal alliance than it is an opportunity for Intuit and LinkedIn to help small businesses make the right hiring decisions by offering the tools small businesses need at a discounted price. Let's hope the event is successful and Intuit and LinkedIn decide to take it to other cities and regions.
