Junction Solutions (and Microsoft Dynamics AX) Selected for Dairy-specific Functionality

Sharp vertical functionality and expertise continue to be order winners in the enterprise software market, time and again. Junction Solutions, a provider of vertical market-specific on-premise and on-demand software applications and services, has announced that Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc., a food and beverage cooperative, will implement JunctionFB and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to support its growth and improve operational efficiency. Built on Microsoft Dynamics AX and designed specifically for food and beverage and multichannel retail companies, Junction Solutions' portfolio includes enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM), and a number of other vertical point solutions.



Upstate Niagara is a farmer-owned cooperative consisting of more than 360 family-owned dairy farms throughout Western New York and operating five production facilities. The cooperative markets a wide variety of products, including milk, dip, ice cream mix, yogurt, cottage cheese, juice, and flavored milk-based beverages, under several brands and also is a private-label manufacturer for regional and national retailers.

After an evaluation of several leading enterprise applications (including three software vendors considered to be the leaders in the ERP market), Upstate Niagara specifically selected Junction Solutions for its extensive dairy experience, successful customer references, and the rich dairy functionality in JunctionFB.

The product’s dairy-specific features include dairy accounting and financials, producer payroll, fluid milk and juice production, order management, inventory management, batching and blending, quality management, lot trace, and trade promotions management. The following were the true order-winning capabilities:

  • Direct Store Delivery (DSD) functionality—The DSD application optimizes a dairy company’s hundreds of routes, and improves the tracking and managing of load and deliveries, all of which ultimately reduces spoilage, decreases costs, improves worker productivity, and optimizes margins.

  • Wireless warehouse application—The dairy needed automated data collection based on the volume of inventory shipping, receiving, and movements

  • Genetic Optimizer (GO) production scheduler—Advanced production scheduling capabilities for dairies

  • Maintenance functionality—Important to Upstate Niagara because it operates multiple plants and a large truck fleet
