Logility Accelerates SCM to ERP Integration

Logility Inc., a supplier of collaborative supply chain management (SCM) solutions, recently announced a template-based approach to reduce the cost and complexity associated with best-of-breed SCM to enterprise resource planning (ERP) integrations. Companies that turn to ERP providers for their SCM capabilities often find that they lack the depth and breadth of supply chain planning and optimization functionality required to outperform the competition in. Furthermore, those integrated ERP-SCM systems may not have the flexibility needed to decouple the financial configurations from the supply chain requirements.

Best-of-breed SCM solutions such as Logility Voyager deliver the required domain expertise, functionality, and flexibility by first receiving essential data from the ERP systems and then driving optimized SCM strategies and tactics back into the operational system. Logility caters to key SCM areas including demand, inventory and replenishment planning, sales and operations planning (S&OP), manufacturing planning and scheduling, supply and inventory optimization, transportation planning and management, and warehouse management.

Working with AdapChain, a certified SAP integration partner, Logility has simplified the process of connecting these systems, using pre-built templates that provide as much as 90 percent of the integration logic ready-to-go, based on pluggable objects developed by AdapChain. The easily maintained components and repeatable process should deliver results superior to those from traditional custom-developed ERP-to-SCM integration projects (which can be complex and expensive and require dedicated staff for upwards of a year or more). Separating the integration component from underlying ERP and SCM technologies eliminates the need to specify, develop, test, and debug new components.

Living and Breathing Integration

Integration templates contain detailed mappings of associated processing logic and create a framework for successive integration efforts. Because the template itself sets the design direction, it should be much easier for developers to create enhancements that can be understood and further extended by others. Real-world businesses do not stand still and Logility’s template-driven integration approach adapts and evolves as businesses do. As ERP and SCM processes mature and solutions are upgraded, this new method should ensure customers are up-to-date without the worry about how one upgrade will impact the other. That’s to say, businesses can now focus on their strategic initiatives.

The templates are specific to each ERP environment and are priced for each customer’s unique environment. Logility’s templates for the major ERP solutions (SAP, Oracle, and Infor) will manage up to 90 percent of the integration work, whereby integrations can be completed in 30 to 60 days, at much lower risk and overall cost. For secondary ERP solutions Logility has been working with AdapChain to finalize templates for them too. For more info, read the "Avoiding Common Pitfalls of SCM-ERP Integration" white paper.
