Mahindra Satyam and IFS Enter into Strategic Global Partnership

The agreement between Mahindra Satyam and IFS reportedly covers all territories, so it is truly a global alliance. The solution focus will be on both product/project and asset lifecycle support, so it will cover a broad range of solutions, supporting processes from design/engineering, via build/make, install/construct, and through operations and maintenance, which is a differentiator for IFS since the vendor can support the full lifecycle with one integrated solution.

This alliance aims to further enhance IFS' global delivery capabilities. Unlike most software companies of its size, and even larger, IFS has strong global direct services capabilities that it obtained during its global expansion initiative during the late 90s and early 2000s. While this did have an impact on the company's earnings during that time, it now provides IFS with the infrastructure necessary to support large global companies as they deploy IFS Applications around the world, without having to rely on indirect channels. That said, as larger companies continue to select IFS Applications to support the complex requirements of their global operations, some prefer to work with global systems integrators (SIs), such as Mahindra Satyam. This alliance and others that will follow should provide an ever-increasing supply of qualified IFS consultants in the market around the world, both direct and indirect, which should benefit IFS' growing customer base.
