Misys Leverages SumTotal’s Talent Expansion Solutions

SumTotal Systems recently announced a new talent expansion platform implementation with global financial software services provider Misys. Misys will use SumTotal’s cloud human capital management (HCM) solutions, together with SAP HR, on the SumTotal elixHR platform, to deliver global performance management, compensation management (for merit review, bonus review, and promotion review), and a learning management system.



Misys needed a system that would complement its existing SAP HR solution, drive accountability and productivity, and deliver greater functionality needed to identify, develop, and expand its talent. SumTotal elixHR reportedly met Misys’ ambitious set of functional and technical requirements, including a "zero customization" approach that could support the company’s diverse employee and skill base.

Mysis evaluated several technology options, including replacing SAP HR altogether, upgrading SAP HR, and bolting on a best-in-breed talent solution. It was decided that replacing SAP HR altogether would divert from the desired outcomes, as Misys would have to spend many months rebuilding organizational structures and creating new processes for starters, movers, and leavers. Upgrading SAP was not an option as costs were prohibitive.

Misys selected SumTotal’s cloud-based solution based on its ability to interact with existing systems and to deliver results quickly, eliminating the need for expensive upgrades or extra investment. The solution enables Misys to extend and link HR information from disparate systems in order to enhance employee engagement, creating an agile and responsive talent management system.

The desired selection outcomes (which have reportedly been achieved within five months) were increased performance and productivity of staff, increased knowledge and accessibility of the skill base across 4,500 employees in 50 countries, and increased staff engagement through more visible career plans and roles. Misys has meanwhile rebranded the SumTotal solution as MiCareer.
