NetSuite Cements Its Cloud E-commerce Stature via Venda

NetSuite recently acquired Venda, the U.K. provider of e-commerce platform Venda Convergent Commerce Platform. In addition to handling omnichannel e-commerce interactions, Venda’s platform manages in-store marketing and order fulfillment/logistics. Its customers include some of the world’s leading brands, especially British retailers such as Tesco F&F Clothing,, Laura Ashley, Little Tikes, TK Maxx, and Arsenal Football Club.
NetSuite already offers a multi-channel e-commerce software platform, SuiteCommerce, which has seen strong growth over the last couple of years, and the company believes the acquisition will improve SuiteCommerce’s feature set and help NetSuite strengthen its B2B and B2C retail practice as well as aid with its expansion in Europe. The acquisition builds on the strong success NetSuite has already experienced with commerce in the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
Venda also has deep experience in delivering e-commerce Web sites that manage billions of dollars of transactions. The acquisition should help NetSuite compete with digital commerce solutions provider Demandware, which has already made a dent in European online merchants. SAP hybris, IBM WebSphere Commerce, eBay Magento, and Oracle ATG are also looking to provide multi-channel commerce platforms, and thus take advantage of the expected growing IT spending power of marketing executives.
