PHS Deploys IFS Mobile Workforce Management

PHS Group, a workplace services provider in the United Kingdom, recently selected IFS Mobile Workforce Management to automate vehicle routing, increase productivity, and improve fuel efficiency. Founded in 1963 as one of the first providers of sanitary disposal in the UK, the PHS Group has grown over the last 50 years to offer more than 200 products and services, from portable appliance testing (PAT), to data shredding, to laundered entrance mats. Today, the Group provides services to over 200,000 customers at more than 450,000 locations nationwide.

PHS employs 1,800 drivers across 23 depots and the company wanted to ensure they have the right information to reach destinations on time, and with the right kit, which requires significant advanced scheduling. Prior to implementing IFS, this process was conducted via a pesky paper-based system and cumbersome manual routing.

IFS was reportedly selected over other providers following a competitive tender process as it was the only provider able to offer both a dynamic and static routing system. As a result, schedulers now spend around half an hour checking routes as opposed to a full day arranging routes and managing driver schedules.

The new IFS Mobile Workforce Management (formerly Metrix) system automates the dynamic scheduling of routes for vehicles, monitors performance throughout the day, and can track drivers in real time. In addition, the new system proactively drives service level agreement (SLA) adherence, rather than allowing drivers to manage this themselves.

IFS Mobile Workforce Management is currently being implemented across the Washroom division of PHS, with the system being used by 100 drivers across four depots at present and with plans in place to roll out across an additional three business divisions in the near future. The system is slated for deployment in Ireland from next July.
