Ramco Launches Cloud ERP for Service Industries

While the market traditionally looks at enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems from an asset- and product-centric business view, there is a sizeable section of the market that is project-based and people-centric. To address the specific needs of the services industry, Ramco Systems recently launched Services Resource Planning (SRP), an ERP offering for service-centric organizations. The new Ramco SRP on Cloud offering aims to address the specific business needs of consulting firms, information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITeS) companies, staffing firms, professional services, and others.
Ramco SRP offers project management that is integrated with its human capital management (HCM) and financials modules (positioned as an extension of the HCM product). It also supports both milestone- and time and materials (T&M)-based project models, and provides project tracking with revenue recognition. Last but not least, Ramco SRP has a resource management feature, which allows an organization to optimize its resources across multiple assignments.
Ramco had soft launched the SRP offering and the initial customers are already successfully running. The official launch should further intensify the vendor’s message to this segment. The initial focus is on midsize IT/ITeS/consulting companies with a 250-3,000 headcount and $50-$700 million in revenues. For the staffing sector, the minimum employee count targeted is 10,000, as automation may not be viable for firms below this threshold (given very low margins).
NetSuite, FinancialForce.com, UNIT4, and other service industries cloud software providers should regard Ramco SRP as a worthy opponent, especially in its regional strongholds.
