SAP Releases New Mobile Retail App for In-store Experience

At the recent NRF 2014 conference, SAP announced the launch of SAP Shopper Experience, a personalized and engaging retail mobile app suite that offers social media sharing, loyalty programs, and a self-payment system for shoppers. The suite of modular consumer mobile solutions aims to transform the in-store shopping experience.

Consumers are increasingly using their mobile devices in stores to research products, compare prices, and get impromptu recommendations. Brick-and-mortar retailers realize that their store results will continue to erode unless they incorporate modern technology into the store experience. To help counteract the showrooming trend, retailers can bring more digital and online experiences into the store for customer convenience.

Retailers can customize the SAP Shopper Experience app to their unique brand identity. They could benefit from a boost in consumer engagement, increased conversion rates from integrated mobile offers, and reduced operational costs.

The app enables shoppers to review their loyalty accounts and plan shopping trips, self-scan merchandise and pay, and receive localized offers and share offers via social media—from their mobile device.

SAP Shopper Experience is available on Android and iOS devices. This solution is built on the Mobiliser platform, which came from the Sybase acquisition and is now integrated into SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 (watch the video for more details).

To further enhance the “mobile first” in-store experience, SAP also released the latest version of the SAP Retail Store Ops Associate mobile app, allowing store associates to execute core merchandising, inventory, and customer service functions directly from the shop floor. New updates include the ability to order products, perform in-store markdowns, make inventory corrections and transfers, post receiving from suppliers and distribution centers, and provide access to product history and information. Store associates will be able to manage consumer requests with a few swipes, which should help to boost sales, enhance consumer loyalty, and improve inventory accuracy and replenishment. SAP Retail Ops Associate is currently available on iOS devices.
