VAI, a provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to the midmarket, announced S2K Smart Center, a configurable Web-based user experience that supports single sign-on, common navigation, and uniform look-and-feel across VAI’s family of S2K ERP software solutions. The solution also offers seamless navigation across multiple applications deployed on-premises or in the cloud.

Traditional ERP systems can often hinder productivity by overwhelming users with a plethora of applications and functions that are not relevant to them. With S2K Smart Center, knowledge workers can customize their own ERP applications and add new social collaboration tools for a role-based user experience. This new interface combines deep industry processes and analytics with new social collaboration tools to help midmarket customers make better-informed and proactive business decisions, with immediate access to pertinent information and tools within one browser session.

S2K Smart Center instantly notifies users of To Do’s, Alerts, and Company News from a dynamic home screen. From this comprehensive screen, users can collaborate about tasks with one another while reacting to pressing business issues. VAI Smart Center includes IBM Smart Cloud for Social Business, instant messaging, and single sign-on, which allows users to chat with colleagues and business associates in real time, send and receive e-mail, and select the appropriate VAI application. This all takes place under the security implemented for the specific user.

In addition, users can sync their Microsoft Exchange or IBM Lotus Notes/Domino contacts, calendar events, and e-mail with VAI’s S2K CRM software using RIVA’s customer relationship management (CRM) middleware service. VAI will allow customers multiple options to access their S2K Enterprise infrastructure through S2K Smart Center, including on premises (users purchase their own in-house IBM Power System to run S2K Enterprise), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS). The latter two options are handled via VAI’s Data Center for a monthly hosting fee or a monthly subscription, respectively.

S2K Smart Center was built on standards-based technologies such as HTML5 and AJAX, allowing Web apps to run on any platform with a modern, standards-compliant browser. In addition, S2K Smart Center’s portal screens have a so-called responsive design that will automatically resize to the specific device, whether it is a desktop, laptop, tablet, or any mobile device. S2K Smart Center is available immediately through the IBM Websphere Portal and pricing begins at $2,500 for a 20-user pack.
