Vendor Snapshot: Epicor at the TEC Vendor Challenge

At the upcoming 2013 TEC Vendor Challenge – ERP for Distribution event in Montreal, Epicor will be featuring its renowned distribution enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor Prophet 21.

In 2011, Apax Partners combined Activant Solutions Inc. (formerly Prophet 21 Inc.) with Epicor Software Corporation to create one of the largest global providers of enterprise applications focused on the distribution, manufacturing, retail, and services sectors (see my blog post for more).

Epicor has been providing solutions for emerging distributors, midsize companies, and subsidiaries of large multinationals for more than 40 years. Today, Epicor has 4,500 wholesale distribution customers, and more than 1,800 customers on Epicor Prophet 21.

Epicor Prophet 21 is built from the ground up for distribution on Microsoft SQL Server. It is scalable and modular, with rich feature sets, for relatively rapid implementation and easy expansion, no matter the size or diversity of the supply chain. Targeted distribution verticals include industrial, fasteners, electrical, plumbing/HVAC, medical, janitorial/sanitary supplies, paper and packaging, fluid power, tile, petroleum, and general/durable goods. Epicor Prophet 21 is currently available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean. Country-specific functionality is currently offered for Mexico and the UK.

Generally speaking, Epicor supports continuous performance management through real-time and in-context business insight. At the core of most of Epicor ERP systems is an adaptable and collaborative business architecture, and this is true of Prophet 21, enabling the enterprise—regardless of country, industry, or device—to conduct business anywhere.
