abas-USA Adds VC999 to Its Customers Roster

Following on its recent win at Carolina Colorabas-USA announced that VC999 Packaging Systems has selected it to be its enterprise resource planning (ERP) provider. VC999 is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of vacuum chamber, thermoforming (rollstock), tray sealer, and flow wrapper machine systems as well as other packaging robotics, vision inspection systems, conveyer/converger systems, labeling, and product scanning.

abas Business Software is an ERP and eBusiness application designed specifically for assemble-to-order (ATO), make-to-order (MTO), made-to-stock (MTS), and engineer-to-order (ETO) environments. The integration of the abas Business Suite is expected to not only improve visibility throughout VC999, but to also combine the company’s previously separate customer relationship management (CRM), accounting, and manufacturing systems, which should improve lead times and cut overhead costs by reducing unnecessary product stock and improving workflow. These changes should also improve customer service by allowing users to review and update customer information and orders with ease.

Reportedly, VC999 was far down the track with QAD when abas got invited in. One of the deal makers there was abas’ improved SolidWorks integration. Especially critical was a new feature for VC999, whereby a customer can log in to the company’s Web page (using abas eBusiness), pull up the catalogued machines, view their SolidWorks drawings, click on a needed spare part in the drawing, directly enter it into the abas eBusiness shopping cart, and purchase it.
