TEC Analyst Observations on Sage ERP X3 v.6

With more than 3,000 customers in 53 countries, Sage ERP X3 addresses the manufacturing, distribution, and services needs of upper mid-market companies. The manufacturing aspects of X3 certainly bring a volume of support for core functionalities, such as financials, manufacturing (discrete, process, and mixed-mode), and quality, inventory, and purchasing management. With version 6, Sage ERP X3 focused on flexibility, an essential component for upper mid-market companies, which are expanding rapidly and constantly in need of addressing emerging challenges.

Besides strong functionality for manufacturing-related industries, Sage ERP X3 offers collaboration tools, tight integration with Microsoft Office, and embedded BI. The product also integrates with third-party solutions for areas that are not the main focus of the product, such as HR. Considering that most discrete manufacturing ERP solutions tend to be aimed at more operational considerations, due to their scope of activities, it is understandable that X3, designed for the mid-market, does not put as much emphasis on HR, where the market relies more heavily on partner add-ons and third-party support.
