Enterprise resource planning |
"With a business model that is
based on such diversity and
distribution of business
partners, Zumba's adoption of a
SaaS solution is a logical way
to go. The Web commerce support
from NetSuite will cater nicely
to Zumba's online customer base,
and the multinational structure
behind OneWorld will provide a
consolidated view of all their
partners activities. A great
example of distributed supply
chain management."

SDL acquires Alterian |
Cross-industry |
Information Management |
"20-year-old information
management veteran, SDL,
finalized its purchase of
Alterian. Although SDL has a
wide range of products (content,
translation management, etc.),
it will fit the Alterian
offering with its own Tridion
WCM solution. The base products
provide a similar swath of
functionality but SDL sees
particular plusses for its
customer base because of the
marketing analytics, campaign
management, and social media
capabilities SDL will be able to
offer from Alterian. A detailed
plan about merging the systems
hasn't been unveiled and for now
both remain available." –

Microsoft unveils Dynamics CRM
mobile |
Cross-industry |
CRM |
"Probably the most important
feature of the 2012 Q2 service
update of Microsoft Dynamics CRM
is the extended availability for
mobile devices. User will be
able to access complete Dynamics
CRM functionality on all major
types of mobile devices: Windows
Phone 7, iPad, iPhone,
BlackBerry, and Android. The new
service is cloud-based and
allows for synchronization
between offline and online data.
With the new mobile version,
Microsoft will finally be a
strong competitor for vendors
like salesforce and Sugar CRM,
which already offer extended
mobile functionality on multiple
device types."

Salesforce.com launches Desk.com |
Cross-industry |
CRM |
"Salesforce.com acquired
Assistly in September 2011, and
Desk.com is the result of
incorporating the solution into
the Salesforce family of
products. It is a cloud-based
help desk solution (which is not
exactly new, as vendors like
Zendesk, Zoho, and others
already doing a good job in this
space). Desk.com's social
features (integration with
Facebook or Twitter) are also
not revolutionary, but it's an
interesting option for companies
already using other Salesforce
products."
