Rapidly Growing Pharmacy Chain Selects Best-fit POS and ERP Systems with TEC

TEC's selection methodology helps SuperPharm discover how to get more out of its legacy systems

Montreal, QC, August 4, 2009 - When SuperPharm, Trinidad and Tobago's leading pharmacy chain, noticed its existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) and point of sale (POS) systems weren't keeping pace with expansion, it immediately concluded that it needed a new software solution and a methodical evaluation process to back up its decision. SuperPharm chose Technology Evaluation Centers' (TEC's) objective and structured approach to understand its business processes and, consequently, identify its software requirements.

Superpharm discovered it didn't need to invest in a new system: it simply had to fine-tune its existing one-an attractive alternative for businesses during an economic slump. Once SuperPharm completed TEC's detailed and industry-specific requirement set, TEC analyzed the prioritized requirements through its decision support system, ebestmatchâ„¢, which clearly defined the gaps in functionality that needed to be addressed.

"We were able to leverage our evaluation with TEC when negotiating with our legacy vendor to enhance features and functionalities. The evaluation helped us zero in on what we needed and the processes that we had to fine-tune," explains SuperPharm chief executive officer (CEO), David Sobrian. As a result, SuperPharm was able to obtain a fair price and complementary training from its legacy solution provider, while avoiding any disruptions to its business expansion.

TEC's evaluation and selection process not only helped SuperPharm find the best-fit software, it also provided insight into what went wrong during the initial implementation: a fast-tracked software selection. "Without TEC, we might never have discovered that our legacy system had the capabilities to meet our needs, and we would have gone through needless expense selecting and implementing another solution" confirms Sobrian.
