Strategic Partnership between TEC and PMOLink Drives Better Software Decisions
PMOLink applies TEC selection methodology to help clients with ERP software selection and evaluation
Montreal, QC, December 17, 2007 - PMOLink Inc., a leading consultancy helping organizations manage project development and business process reengineering initiatives, has partnered with Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC), to better serve its clients software selection project needs.
With Fortune 500 energy, pharmaceutical, hospitality, media, and insurance clients in the US and Mexico, PMOLink was contracted to manage an enterprise resource planning (ERP) replacement project for Carter Chambers LLC. (CCL), a Louisiana-based manufacturer of integrated solutions for industrial valve and instrumentation applications. The goal was to replace the company's existing ERP software as a means of streamlining its business processes, increasing quality, and reducing operating costs.
CCL was eager to avoid problems such as delays and cost overruns experienced during previous selection projects. With this in mind, PMOLink partnered with TEC. TEC offers support for software selection and implementation projects from detailed requirement-gathering (business process modeling) through the research, evaluation, and selection stage, concluding with the planning, negotiation, and post-implementation activities.
When beginning the project, PMOLink put TEC's expertise to use in compiling detailed information about hundreds of enterprise software vendors that was then analyzed in eBestMatch™, an online decision support engine enabling users to determine best-fit software based on their organization's industry, business model, and requirements.
Using TEC's knowledge bases, methodology, and technology, PMOLink was able to provide CCL with the ability to very quickly narrow down its vendor solution options from over 20 to 10, and finally down to 3.
"Before bringing in the vendors for demonstrations, we needed a detailed analysis based on the hierarchical RFP [request for proposal] criteria set. These assessments formed an integral element of the comprehensive evaluation", says Blake Powell, vice president of sales at PMOLink, "and the client was floored by the level of detail that was available on the solutions."
With a project schedule reduced by a full nine months, the client was pleased with the results. As a result of this selection project's success, PMOLink is currently fielding inquiries from other customers; enterprise software evaluation and selection has become a new service offering of PMOLink.
TEC's partnership programs provide added value to consulting organizations, with access to research libraries and evaluation centers that are organized to facilitate targeted IT research and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, and integrated to provide clear supporting documentation for all IT-related initiatives.
