TEC helps Arysta LifeScience North America Reduce Risk in Enterprise Software Selection
Crop Protection and Life Science Company Selects Best-fit BI and BPM Solutions with TEC Methodology.
Montreal, QC, December 10, 2009 — The North American unit of Arysta LifeScience Corporation, a world leader in crop protection and life sciences, was seeking business intelligence (BI) and business performance management (BPM) solutions to streamline how information was collected and analyzed across its various business functions. It had initially contracted Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC) for a standard software evaluation and selection project involving a self-service approach, supported by TEC's objective and structured methodology. However, as the early stages of the project unfolded, specific functional requirements pointed to the need for additional advisory services, and so TEC's team of experts was brought in to lead a customized project.
Arysta LifeScience's six business functions (including supply chain, logistics, finance, marketing, and regulatory and compliance) each had different processes and consequently had their own unique BI solution needs. Helping streamline the requirement-gathering stage, TEC played a major role, working with business leaders and system users to translate requirements to vendor-available functionality, and ensuring important processes were defined in a prioritized hierarchy. "TEC's subject-matter experts brought strong advisory credibility to the table," confirms Don Riley, head of IT at Arysta LifeScience North America. "A great deal of the risk was removed from each stage of the selection process."
One of those stages involved narrowing down the vendor shortlist by creating scripted demos based on the company's prioritized processes. TEC's methodology ensured that vendors provided demos tailored to Arysta LifeScience's defined requirements, to help guarantee a best-fit selection. TEC's demo scoring system helped Arysta LifeScience tabulate the results, which were subsequently entered into TEC's proprietary decision support system to secure an objective final decision. "The TEC Advisor decision support system helped us get the supportable results we needed," adds Riley, "and the unbiased methodology, based on accurate data, helped us create a business case to get stakeholder buy-in."
