Abstract: With 3-D computer-aided design (
CAD) models taking on a broader and more significant role in the development of new products,
CAD files must flow smoothly into downstream applications. Sometimes, however, errors do occur. An off-the-shelf software tool can detect problems in the design stage so they aren’t discovered at a crucial moment in the manufacturing process, when it may be costly—or even too late—to correct them.

Abstract: After adopting two-dimensional computer-aided design (2D CAD) in the 1990s, Dalian Shipyard discovered that 2D technology didn’t meet the real-world challenges facing ship designers. For example, 2D CAD could not graphically reproduce real ship design challenges, such as collisions. Dalian Shipyard needed better product lifecycle management (PLM) tools. The solution: CADDS 5i—a complete 3D CAD tool for shipbuilding.
Abstract: REDMOND, Wash. (Bloomberg) - Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, has stopped linking its instant messaging system with America Online Inc.'s instant electronic-mail program, the companies said.
Abstract: In today's competitive engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing environment, procuring components on time and within budget is crucial. With rising fuel costs and increased international trade, supply chain management software can help ETO organizations get—and stay—ahead of the competition.
Abstract: Engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing needs a high level of integration between ERP and PLM systems. This article points out that ERP and PLM solutions are moving toward each other to achieve more organic data and process connectivity.
Abstract: The requirements of the engineer-to-order (ETO) environment create special challenges for capital equipment manufacturers. Traditional material requirements planning (MRP) techniques don’t account for these manufacturers’ needs. Before you invest in manufacturing software, you should carefully consider 10 questions to ensure that software vendors are focused on your business and can deliver the solution you need.
Abstract: Engineer-to-order (ETO) and project-based companies look to information technology (IT) to improve processes and gain a competitive edge. However, building complex products to exact customer specifications requires unique software. But what exactly are the software requirements of ETO and project-based manufacturers? Remember, the wrong software can cost about the same as the right software—until you try to use it!
Abstract: Maintaining a competitive advantage is paramount, no matter what business you operate within. Engineer-to-order (ETO) companies that produce complex products, usually in low volumes, and with project control techniques, are no exception. A lean enterprise involves the reduction or elimination of any activity that does not add value to a customer. In order to effectively utilize lean, lean concepts must be taken from the manufacturing floor and used thorough the ETO enterprise. This paper demonstrates how IFS applications supports the principles of developing a lean enterprise for ETO organizations. It demonstrates how process improvements apply equally to office-based functions, manufacturing, installation, and service activities.
Abstract: So why would users switch from AOL’s Instant Messaging client to Microsoft’s? Quite simple really, throw in free long distance phone service, offer a comparable and competitive set of base features, and then to make sure you succeed, give it away for free. And just to add injury to insult Microsoft wirelessly enabled the release to embrace the interaction of WAP enabled devices with its user base.

Abstract: As more corporations adopt instant messaging (IM), chief information officers (CIOs) and IT managers are learning that it can be a serious source of liability and security exposure. Users, it seems, simply don’t understand the losses and exposures that can result from incautious IM use. Find out how security software solutions can help you reap the benefits of IM without exposing your company to unnecessary risk.
Abstract: Once a user has logged onto his/her home page he/she will be able to gain instant access to Calendaring, Address Books, Instant Messaging and access to user specific account information
Abstract: What would you do if a critical error occurred during production—all because the wrong data was input into your enterprise resource planning (ERP) system? You’d probably be asking “how could this happen?” The ability to communicate information between teams can mean the difference between production success and failure. Avoid these snafus with a system that can integrate the data of both the design and ERP systems.
Abstract: Keeping track of your key business indicators is the difference between a thriving business concern and a business on life support. But even with this knowledge, one-third of chief executive officers (CEOs) feel they don’t spend enough time reviewing financial and operating numbers. But is spending more time agonizing over piles of data really the best solution?

Abstract: We recommend that wireless users hold off from establishing an account with the iFollow service, until such a time as the service has proven to be reliably interoperable. If it does, jump on board!
Abstract: By selling CAD and payroll applications, IFS may not only control potential damage but also
Abstract: Is selling-off of its Brazilian subsidiary and of tangential CAD and payroll applications a sign that IFS is grasping the realities of a mature enterprise applications market, which requires, among many other things, finding a perfect balance between cultivating the install base versus the zeal for hitching brand new customers?
