Abstract: Today's usage of Decision Support Systems (DSS), combined with vetted knowledge bases, allows organizations to save time and money, achieving better and more reliable/fully-documented decisions, a quantum improvement over the widely-used subjective process of selecting complex enterprise software...
Abstract: Highly interactive applications such as
Citrix are characterized by many small packets. Expand Accelerators’ real-time byte-level caching and compression has the granularity necessary to optimize
Citrix’s interactive applications, increase throughput, and deliver more user sessions on the same bandwidth. Learn more about how you can improve performance for remote users accessing
Citrix applications over the WAN.

Abstract: In February SAP AG announced a web-enabled version of their product data management (PDM) software, the application that lets manufacturers collect and manage databases of information about the products they make.
Abstract: Traditionally, IT infrastructure operations teams are organized as domain experts—one expert for network devices, another for the Citrix MetaFrame Server, another for the database, and so on. Most monitoring systems mirror this approach, with separate solutions for monitoring different network elements and applications. This approach is rife with complications, but alternatives do exist which can simplify your day-to-day activities.
Abstract: If you’re moving toward outsourcing and a dispersed workforce, deploying a centralized knowledge and document repository is going to be one of your biggest challenges. All users, regardless of their location, expect reasonable application response times to actively participate in the knowledge exchange process within your organization. Find out what you can do to overcome this challenge—before it hits your bottom line.
Abstract: Companies that have moved from a highly reactive environment to a more planned one notice significant improvement. A computer maintenance management system (CMMS) or an enterprise asset management (EAM) is a useful tool to create a planned environment, help build accurate equipment history, and develop comprehensive analysis capability. Reprinted with permission from Plant Engineering and Maintenance magazine.
Abstract: Canadian manufacturers are getting squeezed. Challenged by a rising Canadian dollar, forced to hold the line on prices in the US market, pressured by customer demand for lower prices, better quality, and quicker service, these manufacturers need a way to retain their competitive edge and increase bottom-line profitability. Find out why product data management (PDM) is a solution you can turn to in these challenging times.
Abstract: Product lifecycle management (PLM) enables companies to manage all information regarding a product, from the initial design and engineering through to manufacturing, sourcing, support, and run down. Traditionally, enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions have successfully managed manufacturing-related information, but have at best, limited integration to the engineering systems such as product data management (PDM). Learn how the Vantage manufacturing solution offers a complete end-to-end solution that manages all aspects of a product's life.
Abstract: Electronics manufacturing is one of the most complex manufacturing processes. Special software functionality is required to manage information throughout the supply chain, collaborate with subcontractors, and minimize development time. Learn about product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM) solutions that provide the right data management functionality for electronics manufacturers.
Abstract: With its globally distributed operations, Stiebel Eltron—a manufacturer of high-end heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment—needed to streamline its processes and rationalize data management so teams could work together faster and more efficiently. Discover how implementing new product data management (PDM) and visualization solutions helped the company stimulate new product introductions.
Abstract: Herstal designs, manufactures, and distributes a range of firearms, and has a long history of using product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM) technologies. In 2002, the company implemented PTC’s product development suite for its product management needs. With PTC’s software, it reduced research and development (R&D) costs while delivering more products over a shorter period of time. Learn more.
Abstract: Many of today’s product lifecycle management (PLM)-enabling technologies allow complex information to be shared by dispersed teams of people. Product data management (PDM) technology is used to organize and provide access to your intellectual assets. PLM, its collaborative Product Definition management (cPDm) capabilities, and other solutions can help you go beyond asynchronous data sharing. Find out how.
Abstract: Is it possible for a business to ensure uninterrupted, secure, and high-performance access to network-based business applications and web sites? Yes. With network load balancers, user requests are evenly distributed among available servers so that individual servers do not become overwhelmed. Learn about the basics of load balancing and how it can improve the performance and security of your business applications.
Abstract: When it comes to your Web applications, speed is the only metric that matters. After all, Web apps handle the bulk of your critical operations, from inventory and customer relations, to sales and accounting. They’re essential for interacting with your business partners, and without them there’d be no such thing as e-commerce. Read this guide to find out what you can do to accelerate your Web applications to top speed.
Abstract: Discover the best way to optimize Microsoft Office 2007 SharePoint Server applications and reduce network costs. Learn how download times of commonly accessed documents across a wide area network can be reduced from over four minutes to less than one second. In extreme scenarios (with user response times in excess of 10 minutes), find out how you can reduce the workflow wait down to 15 seconds!
Abstract: While globalization can bridge distances and enhance communication, the story is a little different when it comes to wide area networks (WANs) and their effects on branch application performance. High-latency connections and chattiness cause slowed data transmission, and consequently, decreased user productivity. But there is light at the end of the tunnel: a fast branch office application delivery infrastructure.
Abstract: Slowdowns, scalability issues, and security gaps hit Web applications where it hurts. Data center consolidations put distance between application servers and users—producing long round-trips and slow response times. Luckily, there is a solution. Deploying a wire-speed application system—in a unified single-platform design—boosts response times, improves infrastructure scalability, and safeguards against security threats.
Abstract: Is it beneficial to use multiple types of virtualization software together? The answer: yes. Combining complementary virtualization technologies provides a stronger, more robust solution that reduces costs, maximizes return on investment (ROI), and minimizes the number of servers to manage. By consolidating these technologies, organizations can get the most out of the application, hardware, and operating system (OS).
Abstract: Invensys has announced a new division, Baan Process Solutions Group (BPSG), which combines the PRISM and Protean process ERP products with the Baan Dimensions and Baan IV Process products. The announcements also include integration of a series of additional Baan modules for PRISM and Protean. The modules include products in the areas of Business Intelligence, Customer Relationship Management, e-business (procurement and sales) and Supply Chain Management.
Abstract: Baan, once a leading global provider of ERP software hopes its adoptive parent, Invensys, will put it back on the enterprise software applications map. However, we believe Baan’s path to full recovery will be quite thorny. Part 2 examines Baan’s strengths and challenges and makes specific bottom line recommendations.
