PTC Creo Elements/Direct 19.0 Is Available
PTC announces the availability of version 19 of its direct modeling computer aided design (CAD) software PTC Creo Elements/Direct. P.J. brings you the details

cocreate handbuch  software, formerly known as CoCreate . The release’s productivity enhancements in the core areas of modeling, drafting, and data management are complemented with greater interoperability with PTC Creo 3.0 and other non-PTC CAD systems, via PTC’s novel Unite CAD technology (also announced at the conference; look for my analysis on that in a separate post on the TEC Blog ).   Support for direct import of SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor data enables teams to quickly and easily incorporate design

PTC Live Global 2013: All About Design for “Servitization” —Part Two

Last week on the TEC blog I talked about market shifts and technological changes that are reshaping the competitive landscape for manufacturing firms, based on PTC CEO Jim Heppelmann’s seven trends, which formed the backbone of his keynote presentation at the PTC Live Global 2013 event held in California in June. PTC Live Global also had a companion Service Exchange (formerly Servigistics Exchange

Namely, Creo Direct , a direct modeling CAD solution but in new Creo architecture (not in CoCreate architecture), currently only has a minor part of CoCreate functionality. On the other hand, Creo Elements/Direct is just a new name of CoCreate, but is not really a new Creo app. Confused yet? What really caught my eyes and ears during the PTC Live Global event was the announcement on what PTC plans to do in Creo 3.0 —it will be able to Read More

Summarizing PTC’s Decades of Fervent In-House Innovation (and Acquisitions) - Part 2

Part 1 of this blog series introduced Needham, Massachusetts, United States (US)-based Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC, NASDAQ: PMTC), which is an over US$ 1 billion large software company that develops, markets, and supports product development software solutions and related services. The article analyzed the company’s genesis from its inception in 1985 through the mid

The product was recently renamed Creo Elements/Direct (see Part 1 for more detail on the differences between parametric/history-based and explicit/direct modeling approaches ) Most Recent Acquisitions Most recently, PTC acquired the assets of Synapsis Read More

Summarizing PTC’s Decades of Fervent In-House Innovation (and Acquisitions) - Part 3

Part 1 of this blog series introduced Needham, Massachusetts (US)-based Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC, NASDAQ: PMTC), which is an over US$1-billion large software company that develops, markets, and supports product development software solutions and related services. My post analyzed the company’s genesis from its inception in 1985 through the mid 2000s. Part 2 then analyzed the most

As mentioned earlier, PTC expects to release Creo 1.0 in the summer of 2011, and the offering will feature a number of Apple App Store -like solutions (where the pricing model is yet to be determined). Shifts in Payment Models for CAD Deployments

Given the recent desktop virtualization move for PTC Creo, it will be interesting to watch whether PTC will start offering subscriptions for some Creo apps (and Dassault Systèmes for SolidWorks). This is especially interesting in light of the recent move of Siemens Solid Edge to subscription licensing, and also since Autodesk is now offering its desktop and other design products on a pay-as-you-go

cocreate handbuch  Edge, and even PTC CoCreate (now Creo/Elements Direct ) in the mid-market category, and Dassault CATIA, Siemens NX , and PTC Creo Parametric (formerly Pro/E ) in the large enterprise category. For the latter, I don’t see subscription or cloud models coming any time soon. The reason for Autodesk to do pay-as-you-go is that it fits with the vendor’s overall strategy in how it targets professional (and even consumer) users. The reason for Solid Edge to do so is that it is still a smaller player trying Read More

Summarizing PTC’s Decades of Fervent In-House Innovation (and Acquisitions) - Part 1

Needham, Massachusetts (US)-based Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC, NASDAQ: PMTC) is an over USD 1 billion large software company that develops, markets, and supports product development software solutions and related services. The company’s solutions help its client companies design products, manage product information, and improve their product development processes

cocreate handbuch  In 2007, PTC acquired CoCreate for its direct modeling 3D CAD capabilities, primarily to add its existing customers and history-free, dynamic modeling capabilities. To put things into perspective, PTC’s historical strength comes from its pioneering parametric (thus the company’s name), history-based modeling tools in the mother Pro/E product, which really captured the market first back in the early to mid 1990s. This method of design requires designers and engineers to retrace a series of design Read More

Service Delivery Innovation: Creating Client Value and Enhancing Profitability

The rules for success in today’s fiercely competitive market are constantly changing. Through service delivery innovation, a company can differentiate itself. But how do you change your service delivery methods to keep existing clients and entice new ones? A networked organization is one of six characteristics of successful service delivery innovation. Find out how you can put them into practice and attain the benefits.

To that end, PlanetPTC Live 2011 was  the place where the first nine Creo 1.0 applications were officially released to perform Read More
