Abstract: On January 7, taking many by surprise, enterprise software giant SAP pre-announced fourth quarter earnings, saying pre-tax earnings had doubled the final quarter of 1999 after a third-quarter profit warning. License revenue skyrocketed 40% to 800M EUR ($822.7M U.S.) in the fourth quarter and sales rose 25%, well above Wall Street estimates.
Abstract: September 15, 1999 07:45 AM ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Manugistics Group, Inc. MANU today reported quarterly revenues and earnings for the period ended August 31, 1999. For its second quarter, Manugistics generated revenues of $33.8 million. The company reported a net loss for the quarter of approximately $3.4 million, or $.13 per basic and diluted share compared to a net loss of $6.0 million, or $.23 per basic and diluted share, in the same quarter in the prior year.
Abstract: Logility, Inc. recently announced its financial results for the second quarter and six months ended October 31, 1999. In spite of the Y2K marketplace malaise, Logility reported a 60% increase in total revenue over the same period last year. Profits fell comfortably in positive territory at $0.07 per diluted share. Wall Street reacted ecstatically to the news, which caused Logility's stock price to more than double on Tuesday.
Abstract: On October 21, the Baan Company announced a larger-than-expected loss of $25M. Baan's stock price tumbled more than 10% after the loss more than tripled Wall Street's prediction of losses between $8.2M and $1.4M. Revenue for the quarter was $143M, compared to $195M in the same period last year. Sales of new software fell 59% to $36M for the recent quarter, from last year's $86.6M. Baan cited the market's move toward leasing rather than buying software as one reason for its sagging revenue.

Despite the resultant sharp drop in market capitalization, Mercator’s capabilities in the areas of XML and enterprise application integration are still solid.

Abstract: On March 20, MicroStrategy announced that they will restate their earnings for 1998, 1999, and the first quarter of 2000. Shares of the company dropped from a high of $333 eleven days ago to $73 per share as of March 21. At least four law firms have announced class action lawsuits against the vendor.

Abstract: On October 25, Hershey Foods Corporation announced a sharp decline in revenue and earnings for its third fiscal quarter ended September 30, 1999. Consolidated net sales were $1.07 billion compared with $1.22 billion for the third quarter of 1998. Net income for the third quarter was $87.6 million, or $ 0.62 per share-diluted, compared with $107.5 million, or $ 0.74 per share-diluted, for the third quarter of 1998. Hershey Chairman and CEO Kenneth L. Wolfe blamed the poor showing on problems encountered since July, when the company switched over to new systems for customer service, warehousing and order fulfillment.
