A Definition of Data Warehousing
There is a great deal of confusion over the meaning of data warehousing. Simply defined, a data warehouse is a place for data, whereas data warehousing describes the process of defining, populating, and using a data warehouse. Creating, populating, and querying a data warehouse typically carries an extremely high price tag, but the return on investment can be substantial. Over 95% of the Fortune 1000 have a data warehouse initiative underway in some form.

Requirements Definition For Package Implementations
How do you go about defining the requirements of large package systems, particularly those with the all-encompassing scope of ERP, EAM, and CRM software, and still satisfy the needs to the project team, the user community, and executive management? It’s a balancing act rivaling the circus performer trying to keep all of the plates spinning at once. While it is difficult to say one aspect of a project plan is more important than another, accurately and completely defining the needs to be fulfilled by the software is critical to the overall success of the implementation and the longevity of software. This article outlines a logical process for defining the requirements and keeping the plates spinning.

EAM DEFINITION: for the entire project team to see the final version of all of the process flows. This could mark the start of breaking down of the barriers that may exist between departments and eliminate the tunnel vision that may have infected the organization. If not eliminated, these obstructions will become more contentious in an integrated ERP or CRM environments. To Be Phase In the To Be phase, you get a chance to play king or queen for the day. As if you owned the company, you can legitimately ask, How should

Reliability Driven Maintenance--Closing the CMMS Value Gap ?Part One: Trends and Definition
The metric of plant maintenance should now be in the ability of the plant to meet the strategic goals of the company beyond customarily expected cost savings, such as improved plant output, performance predictability, product quality, customer service, safety, environmental control, etc.

EAM DEFINITION: be fair, CMMS (and EAM of late) products have helped many companies to work efficiently, but if one is not doing the right work, it is of little avail. The thought-leading approach nowadays is to work effectively by embracing the benefits of concepts like reliability assessment, business risk prioritization, reliability centered maintenance (RCM), condition monitoring, and so on. A focus on reliability driven maintenance might improve equipment reliability and close the value gap of maintenance

Perfect Orders: Improving Customer Satisfaction and Financial Results
If you don't measure it, you can't improve it. For owners, the traditional measure is profit. For customer satisfaction, the perfect order index is useful. Manufacturers and distributors must keep two groups satisfied—customers and owners. They are connected—what improves the satisfaction of one group can impact the satisfaction of the other. Only through measuring the satisfaction of both groups can these sometime conflicting groups be balanced. Owners watch earnings and return on investment. One way to measure customer satisfaction is with the perfect order index.

EAM DEFINITION: Perfect Orders: Improving Customer Satisfaction and Financial Results Perfect Orders: Improving Customer Satisfaction and Financial Results Olin Thompson - January 10, 2011 Read Comments The management of any company has two key groups to satisfy. The first is customers. If your customers are not satisfied, they stop buying your product. The second group is owners (shareholders, co-op members, family, etc).
