With a single enterprise resource planning (ERP) point of control, this goal is accomplished by eliminating duplicate entry, and by contributing data integrity, detailed drilldown, and more. Software as a Service: Not without Caveats
Software-as-a-service solutions often cannot provide that final twenty percent or so that differentiates a company from its competitors. Of major concern is whether off-premise applications can support complex, global organizations on a constant basis and on strict service level agreements.

EXPERT SYSTEM SOFTWARE DEFINITION: vendors who have industry-specific expertise and broader functional footprints to accommodate evolving, interdepartmental business processes. At the very least, coexistence of SaaS and on-premise applications will be the reality for many enterprises ( Microsoft cites the existence of dual models, where a PC-installed application can be enhanced by online functionality, as seen with media players like Windows Media Player ), so SaaS will be able to move beyond providing operational efficiency toward

If Software Is A Commodity...Then What?

What Is Software as a Service?
Though born from the ashes of traditional hosting models, software as a service differs fundamentally from its predecessors. Its software is designed to be delivered as a service, security is better, rich user interfaces are available, and it has greater interactivity.

EXPERT SYSTEM SOFTWARE DEFINITION: vendors with specific industry expertise and broad functional footprints that can accommodate evolving business processes. Customizing UI field names will not cater to this need. Neither will the user s ability to write JavaScript, to put the universal resource locator (URL) for the script in a custom field, or the use of tab access and style sheets, all of which is what Salesforce.com refers to customization work. Enterprises also want more control of their applications, as they need to be constantly

CMMS Software for Hire
Application Service Provision (ASP).There has been a trend in recent years towards the use of remote software services through application service providers. These are companies who make software applications available via the Internet to users who, rather than buying software, pay rental fees for it. The software does not have to be installed locally, the application being available through any web browser, and all support and maintenance is handled by the service provider. CMMS vendors are not the only ones offering these solutions. CAD modelling, engineering design, finance packages, purchasing, ERP and even your company Intranet can now be rented. This is an expanding sector and the signs are that major growth is about to take place. Earlier problems with slow data transfer speeds, communication costs and data security have largely been eliminated and this has made ASP a very attractive proposition. This is clearly illustrated by the proliferation of systems that have become available over the last three or four years with most of the major CMMS vendors now offering an ASP option.
