“Whistler” Beta on the Web?
Source code for a future Microsoft OS, code-named “Whistler”, mysteriously appeared on the Internet in mid-March. How did it get there? Does it matter? And why does Microsoft management keep making statements that are later retracted?

FACT ON PAUL CEZANNE: If this was in fact a ploy by MS, some early effects (delay/suppression of OS buying decisions) will be felt, but these will not be significant. The real impact of Whistler will not be felt until 2001. At that point, the convergence of the NT and Win 9x kernels will result in consolidation of Microsoft s OS structure/offerings, and will provide a blueprint for how Microsoft s OS fortunes will proceed in the ensuing years. Of course, the DOJ antitrust trial is still not finished - the outcome of a ruling

Analyst Take on SAPPHIRE 2013 » The TEC Blog
Plank, CEO of sportswear manufacturer Under Armour—that was moderated by the well-known sports anchorman James Brown (not the ‘I Got You (I feel Good)’ James Brown). Besides the strong marketing message attached to the presentation, there was much interesting discussion on how organizations are using SAP’s technology and software offerings to improve their businesses, and the potential of computing to improve customer experience, accelerate service, and of course increase revenue. a large number of factors, from an organization’s needs to Internet availability in certain regions. But I think that labeling all market players as “legacy technology” providers based on the single criterion of not belonging to the “cloud class” appears to be premature and quite assumptive. Traditional on-premise, hosted, and other business software systems are still in full power and will be commanding a large portion of the business clientele for a long time to come. You may call them partne

Fighting Cybercrime on the Internet
Excerpts from a presentation on cybercrime by Laura Taylor, TEC Director of Security Research for the E-Gov 2000 Conference sponsored by SAIC on July 10, 2000 at the Washington Convention Center.

FACT ON PAUL CEZANNE: straight sexual acts. In fact, there are many responsible gay adults who are adamantly abhorrent of some of these man-boy love web sites and would welcome the opportunity to help assist in getting them removed from the web. At this point, Ms. Taylor went on to discuss computers and children, noting Keeping children off the web, and off computers is not an option. In fact, we need to enable online access as much as possible, in order to enable our kids survival as law-abiding contributing members of

Company Makes Good On B2B Collaboration
Logility recently announced financial results for the third quarter ended January 31, 2000 and seemingly escaped the market turmoil that pummeled other enterprise applications vendors.

FACT ON PAUL CEZANNE: adoption of CPFR for manufacturers and clarify for prospects the distinction between its XPS application and those for vendor managed inventory (VMI) and related practices. Logility must also convince the B2B market that CPFR is superior to online trading networks, a difficult task in lieu of all the hype surrounding these exchanges. The Bottom Line on Bad Customer Data
You can blame your sales people all you want, but if the lead data is bad, they’re not going to bring in business. You can blame your product managers for ineffective promotions, but if the target lists are redundant, the pitches fall on deaf ears. You can blame your customer service representatives for low satisfaction scores, but if customer data is missing, then no wonder the complaint resolution pipeline is backed up. Think it’s your customer resource management (CRM) system? Think again. It’s bad data, and it’s costing you millions. Request your copy of The Bottom Line on Bad Customer Data that delivers detailed advice from Jill Dyche, partner and co-founder of Baseline Consulting, about what you can do to address the impact of bad data on your company. Preactor: Predict and React on the Shop Floor
Many best-of-breed advanced planning and scheduling (APS) vendors have come and gone since the late 90s, when APS was hyped as a tool that would be a key enabler for manufacturing companies. But one vendor that has distinguished itself is Preactor, a world leader in production planning and scheduling software. Learn more in this in-depth report, which includes a Q&A with Preactor founder and CEO Mike Novels.

FACT ON PAUL CEZANNE: key enabler for most manufacturing companies in becoming more agile, responsive, and efficient in dealing with variations in demand and with unplanned disturbances on the shop floor (and in the entire supply chain, if you will)? An APS solution integrated with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system was supposed to enable a manufacturer to optimize its production schedule based on efficiency goals, profit objectives, customer service levels, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) and business
