Announcing the Upcoming TEC CRM Buyer’s Guide: Focus on Innovation » The TEC Blog
ask: • What’s under the hood? Is it a new interface with old technology? • Integrated versus embedded innovation: Does the solution integrate with other innovative software, or offer that functionality out of the box? • Pricing: You can get lots of great tools, but how much is it going to cost you? • Product direction: Is innovation an integral part of the software development strategy of the vendor? Or is the vendor simply developing new features that are nice to have, but possibly not

ERP Demand Being Re-heated
As reported on March 5 in The Dallas Morning News/KRTBN -- E-commerce may get all the attention, but information technology experts say the demand for enterprise resource planning professionals is almost as hot.
HOODIA
: what happens underneath the hood . Inform yourselves about the company you wish to join. Are they a hire-and-fire place or a company who continuously invests in its people s skill sets and attempts to cross-train them before laying them off in droves? Needless to say that informal networking skills are needed in order to find the answer to this question. comments powered by Disqus ERP Selection Facts and Figures Case Study - Part 2: Qualitative Assessments and Analysis | ERP Selection Facts and

The Power of One
The typical mid-market company that has roughly $350 million in annual revenue, has not fully automated its business processes, and would gladly give up its legacy systems if everything could work from one server, and give the executives the information they need in the process. Another opinion in the dilemma - the one-stop shop versus best-of breed concept.
HOODIA
: looks like under the hood, but clearly J.D. Edwards is attempting to provide the total solution. Note: J.D. Edwards is now a wholly owned subsidiary of PeopleSoft. There are several others vendors including Epicor , IFS , and Microsoft that have also spent the last couple of years rounding out their versions of an all-in-one solution. No need to go into the details here, but it should be clear that the market (especially the mid-market) is receptive to an all-in-one solution and many vendors are

HOODIA
: have him pop the hood and put it on the hoist. You should do the same thing with purchased data; otherwise, you are essentially abdicating your data quality standards to those of the vendor. In the case of a purchased list for a marketing campaign, you can ask for a random sample from the prospect list and conduct your own data quality assessment. Rudimentary tests for field completion and validation are simple to run. Validating purchased data extends to matching the purchased data against your current

Evaluating Enterprise Software - Business Process or Feature/Function-Based Approach? All the above, Perhaps?Part Two
There is certainly room to ask the fundamental question of whether the traditional practice of RFI/RFP-based selection processes has been adequate for the task of selecting complex systems.
