Wetmetrics
Your Challenge: Get Decision Makers' Approval for a Password Fortification Authentication. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound. The Internet is having an identity crisis. Long regarded as a powerful tool for cost reduction and service enhancement, the Internet is falling short of its promise because of the real and perceived threat of identity theft. Financial losses and insurance costs are mounting, as organizations struggle to protect their information perimeters and improve the strength of their authentication systems to ensure that the authorized user is present during the sign-in process. The widespread use and misuse of passwords as authentication tokens is generally cited as a cause of the accelerating erosion of user confidence and the increasing incidence of identity theft. It is generally agreed that passwords are not enough. Much has been lost, however, in the race toward person-present authentication systems. While the application of passwords is fraught with risk, the introduction of complex authentication infrastructures and cumbersome end user technology has eroded usability and increased the cost of security dramatically. This paper describes a new authentication approach that retains the simplicity and low cost of passwords, while gracefully introducing as much person-present assurance as is required by the application.

Antivirus Software: Market Review
Computer viruses are spreading through the Internet at an unprecedented rate and the antivirus market is now a $3 billion (USD) a year industry. This report measures the financial health and product quality of four key industry players: Symantec, McAfee, Computer Associates, and Trend Micro.

HOTMAIL: Trend Micro to scan Hotmail and MSN mailboxes . It is true that for an extra $20 (USD), you can buy a copy of Norton Internet Security, which contains many of the same features as PC-cillin. However, Norton Internet Security lacks some of the features included in PC-cillin, such as the vulnerability check feature. In the end, our recommendation is that if you already have other Internet security products in place (anti-spyware, firewall, etc.) then we recommend Norton AntiVirus. However, if you do not

Application Giants in Duel and Duet for Users’ Hearts, Minds … and Wallets
While SAP and Microsoft are concurrently partnering for certain initiatives, they are still dueling about who is bigger, better, smarter, whose user screens are prettier and more user-friendly, and so on. But the major question is whether the market and users are ultimately going to be better for it.

HOTMAIL: intuitive interfaces (ironically, MSN Hotmail was one of the best deployments of AJAX). In a particularly peculiar position was Microsoft, which certainly could not complain about royalties from 400,000 deployments (or at least acknowledgements) of Office, Exchange or Windows Server. However, the Microsoft Dynamics business applications group and the accompanying partner ecosystem probably didn t share the same enthusiasm, by any respect. To appease these constituencies, Microsoft released Microsoft
