An Interview with Saj-nicole Joni (Author of The Third Opinion)
The term The Third Opinion was coined by Clark Clifford, advisor and friend to many US Presidents. One thing is clear to all of us who have been observing

Outsiders, for example alliance partners, bankers, and some third party consultants offer second opinion advice based on their expertise and outside perspective that is colored by their business model and vested interests. When you are facing important decisions, this only goes so far. The Third Opinion is where you seek outside, diverse perspectives AND lack of agenda or vested interest. This is where you get unfettered exploration and

Learning Management Suite (LMS)

These are tools for managing, creating, scheduling training or learning in your organization. The terminology varies from vendor to vendor. Learning management systems (LMS) typically help to manage both classroom and on-line learning. They do not normally include content creation or management tools but may in some cases. Some LMSs may manage just classroom or just e-learning rather than both. Some LMSs may also include content authoring and managment and virtual classrooms. Learning content management systems (LCMS) emphasize the management of content for courses/training/learning. In most cases, they include content authoring tools. In some cases, they may also include some of the features of LMSs. Content authoring tools are often provided as part of an LCMS. They may also be stand-alone products. Virtual classrooms (web conferencing tools) normally are separate third party offerings but may be included as part of a suite of tools. Suites of tools include features of at least two or more of the above categories. While some companies offer just LMS or LCMS systems others offer suites of products, which provide all or most of the features of the other tools. Suites combine several capabilities of learning management--usually two or more of the following: learning management, classroom training management, e-learning management, custom content creation, learning content management, learning object repositories, or virtual classrooms.

How Project Management Can Help Manufacturers

Recently there were two great articles published on our Website touching the interesting problem of interactions between traditional manufacturing management and project management: The Business Model for the 21st Century Is Project-centric and Weather the Recession with Project ERP. I agree with the respective authors that the project-driven management approach can help companies improve their

Here is an example to demonstrate this: Say you are a material buyer and you are required to purchase either material A or material B this week, but you are limited in your budget. You might get a very good deal and save lots of money on material A because the supplier is offering a discount this particular week only, but at the same time, a Read More

Frankly, we think that hiding information (or removing it, as in the Texas case) almost always looks worse than the information itself. We do recommend that companies exercise benign control and management over their websites. Mobilizing Change Part Two: The Case for Action Method

The case for action is intended as a living document, to be updated and referenced by the business and the project team. It should be referenced during the implementation to ensure that the focus and anticipated outcomes are still on track. After implementation, it is a tool to use to assess the success of the project.

Software Piloting: How Do You Fly This Plane

Piloting the software is one of, if not the most, critical event in the project life cycle. If done well, the pilot will uncover issues before they become problems, instill confidence in the users that the software is ready for prime time, and make the 'go live' uneventful and a cause for celebration
