Selecting and Keeping Warehouse Personnel
Our question is: the traditional hiring methodology does not work so why do we continue to use it with one of our most important processes in the organization? We have to change our mindset and begin by focusing more on what a person needs to do, rather than what they have.

JOHN CAPP: Michigan State by Professor John Hunter. It says that with all positions from entry level to chairman, the typical employment interview is somewhere between seven and eleven percent more accurate than flipping a coin. Let s think about that. We have the most important thing we do, which is hiring good people for our teams and it relies fundamentally on a random process. Do you have any process in your organization that produces 43 percent scrap? If you did, would you continue to use it? OF COURSE NOT!

Demand Planning: Optimizing Operations across the Supply Chain
Your Challenge: Get Decision Makers' Approval for Optimizing Operations Across The Supply Chain. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound. Demand planning applications can help manufacturers establish baseline sales forecasts and perform analysis to improve resource usage. They can also help manufacturers optimize pricing capabilities and better understand their markets. Yet to get the most out of these tools, manufacturers must be willing to reorganize their planning processes—and to share the resulting insights with supply chain partners and customers.

JOHN CAPP: hands at all, says John Pavain, president of Norwalk, Connecticut based MaxQ Technology, a developer of demand management systems and a Microsoft® partner. Demand planning is an area that most companies need help in. Poor Forecasting = Poor Profits Whether it s for consumer packaged goods, industrial manufacturing, high tech and electronics, or automotive demand, sales forecasts often lack the sophistication needed to optimize both operations and profits. We ve been pretty wrong on forecasting in

Sorting Through the ERP, Lean MFG, APS, and MES Clutter – Part 1 » The TEC Blog
vpc , vsm Comments John Krech on 20 November, 2010 at 1:54 pm # Great discussion PJ - we replace the 1913 EOQ model with economic value added to implement lean concepts. We use visual production control signals or color coded alerts relative to optimum econimic value adde to trigger decisions or actions. Economic value added is a much better metric than EOQ’s variable costs and we can combine benefits of information technology with VPC. Will MS try the Open Source Gambit with WinCE? Why Not – Nothing Else Seems to Work
In what may be another attempt to gain some kind of foothold in the handheld and embedded-OS market, rumors are floating that Microsoft will open the source code for Windows CE.

JOHN CAPP: March 17, 2000 By John Spooner and Mary Jo Foley, ZDNet News Feeling pressure from Linux in the embedded-device market, Microsoft Corp. is contemplating giving away Windows CE to some developers for free. The company is unlikely to go so far as to try to claim its effort to be Linux-like open source, but it nonetheless seems to be counting on riding the open source movement s coattails. Microsoft Corp. could make public its plans to open the Windows CE source base as soon as its Windows Hardware
