RFID--A New Technology Set to Explode?Part Two: Early Adopters, Challenges, and User Recommendations
Radio frequency identification or RFID has a potential of becoming a new technology inflection point. It can be a missing piece in the long-lasting puzzle of squeezing excess inventory out of supply chains, but only when (and if) it reaches a critical mass of adoption and maturity over the next several years.

SSA Acquires MAX Hoping To Leap From Its MIN
In order to return from oblivion SSA continues with more decisive moves to put itself back on the global enterprise applications map. Renaming itself as SSA Global Technologies (SSA GT) was one of the moves. It has recently acquired MAX International, a move to expand its offerings into the small and medium enterprise market. Will the market witness another Baan-like resurrection of a fallen ERP vendor?

MINI CHIPS: SSA GT should have minimal impact on the global market in the short run, it might have an important psychological effect on existing SSA GT s customer base. Former SSA has suffered, over the past few years, a tremendous loss of market share and customer confidence, while its channel also dwindled during the same period of time. As a result, the market has witnessed an array of competitors preying on its large, perturbed customer base. There have been ominous indications that many of BPCS users were at

RFID Case Study: Gillette and ProviaPart Two: Challenges and Lessons Learned
Compliance with the market RFID mandate has unfortunately preceded the achievements of applied physics and computer science. One of the main obstacles is the lack of integration, since there is a dearth of software tools from enterprise application integration vendors to get data from RFID tags and readers into existing business systems, meaning that companies are often forced to do expensive custom integration work.

MINI CHIPS: automation equipment needed to minimize investment, while maximizing results, is what companies needing RFID compliance truly desire. Being able to get it from a single company makes it even more attractive, which Provia touts as especially appealing to its third party logistics (3PL) customers as they can offer it as a value-added solution to their clients. As also partly shown by Gillette s project, this RFID solution can be incorporated at numerous points in the supply chain, from manufacturing, to
