Analyzing Full-duplex Networks
Whether you’re monitoring networks for security threats, or capturing and decoding packets while troubleshooting, you need reliable ways to see the network traffic. Traffic levels on the given segment, coupled with the visibility level you require, will suggest the most economical solution. Of the three most common ways for analysis devices to capture network traffic, which is right for you?

Managing 21st Century Networks
Internet protocol (IP)—used for transmitting data across networks everywhere—is now used pervasively, transmitting data to and from a multitude of devices. Arguably, IP is the most successful open standard ever, but as network communications converge under a single standard used for an increasing number of applications, we need to understand how effectively these critical assets are being managed.

Publisher-controlled Ad Networks
Until now, the digital marketing value chain between publishers and advertisers has been fragmented, with publishers having no control over or access to their user data. This has made it difficult for them to implement effective digital ad strategies. Now, with a new suite of previously unconnected technologies, they can collect and connect their data, and rediscover profitable business models. Download this white paper to learn more.

New Era of Networks Gets Blinded By the NEON
A recent ruling by a judge in the 268th Judicial District Court in Texas has upheld a jury verdict that awarded NEON Systems $39 million in damages against New Era of Networks, which, the jury found, had a nasty habit of abbreviating 'New Era of Networks' as, guess what, Neon. If upheld on appeal, this ruling will cause the new e-business division of Sybase a lot of administrative grief and expense (not to mention the money from the jury award).

Management for Next-generation Multi-service System Networks
The history of telecommunications management is rife with examples of good technology failing to meet business requirements. Historically, while business has needed management of service definitions, technology has focused on element management, leaving a gap between what is desired and what is possible. If operational expenses are to be lowered, this gap must be closed.

Building Open SANs with Multi-switch Fabrics
The ratification of standards is important to any industry. Now, in the realm of storage area networks (SANs), new standards are being put in place to ensure user-friendly and heterogeneous fibre channel switches that allow for multiple vendors and increased interoperability. Before incorporating a multi-switch fabric into your SAN, however, you should know the whys, whats, and hows involved.

Stackable Switches: A Better Way to Scale SAN Infrastructure
Fibre channel storage area networks (SANs) used to be implemented in only high-end enterprise class data centers, but this is no longer the case. SANs have become more affordable and can be widely implemented without sacrificing performance. When you need to expand your frame-based computer network, consider stackable switches as a cost-effective solution for the infrastructure of a fibre channel SAN.

VoIP Vulnerabilities: What You Need to Consider When Assessing Business Phone Systems
Many administrators make the mistake of being satisfied by providing VoIP components the same security as they do to their regular data networks. But VoIP security needs differ from other data security needs. This paper looks at reasons why and how this influences the construction of VoIP networks. Read about major VoIP security threats and how they can be circumvented, as well as best practices when assessing VoIP systems.

Datacenter Design: Optimizing Networks for Evolving Traffic
Data center network design architecture is changing to reflect growing IT trends in distributed applications and virtual computing. New computing models require a flatter network that is flexible enough to handle unpredictable traffic patterns. Find out what that means for your company in this interview with Cindy Borovick, Vice President of IDC’s Enterprise Communications and Datacenter Networks programs.
