Gosh, There’s a Bug in Windows 98
There’s a system security hole that can crash your Windows 95 or 98 system. How long has it taken Microsoft to fix it? Three months and counting.

NET WINDOWS CE: Bowden, general manager of BugNet.com, an online bug-tracking service. The insidious thing is that you can stick this in a Web page and e-mail it to someone and it will cause their machine to [crash] when they open it, Bowden said. Users could also encounter the hole by typing the string of characters at the DOS prompt in Windows 95 or 98. Microsoft acknowledges it was alerted to the problem at the end of last year but did nothing to fix it or make customers aware of the problem. It wasn t considered

How to Build an IT Infrastructure for Net Weight Control
A modern weight control system must support data entry from humans, as well as direct acquisition from weigh scales and devices. However, it cannot operate as a stand-alone point solution. It must span geographic space, hosting data from multiple lines and even divisions. And because of the proliferation of co-packers, it must sometimes even span company boundaries.

Microsoft Delays NGWS Conference, Windows Chief Takes “Vacation”
Forum 2000, Microsoft’s conference where it will unveil details of its Next Generation Windows Services, has been delayed three weeks. This is the latest development in a week that has seen yet another high-level staff departure, and yet another adverse development in the U.S. antitrust case. What’s next, a plague of locusts?

NET WINDOWS CE: Monday, May 22, 2000, ZDNet revealed that Jim Allchin was taking an extended vacation. In prior years, Microsoft vice officials such as Brad Silverberg and Pete Higgins who took similar leaves never returned to the Redmond software giant. Microsoft has also been rocked by recent development in the U.S. Department of Justice antitrust action. On May 24, 2000, U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson praised an SIAA amicus brief that called for a three-way breakup plan for Microsoft. Judge Jackson also

DOJ Keeps Low Profile on Curador; Protect Your IIS Server Today!
After insisting the perpetrator of the February Distributed Denial of Service attacks would be caught and punished, a month later, the Department of Justice, and Janet Reno, are keeping a low profile on the antics of an altogether different, but in many ways more serious, cyber attack. Take Remote Data Service precautions today. Here's how.

NET WINDOWS CE: that U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno insisted that the perpetrator of the February 9th Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks would be caught and punished. Though the FBI was able to track down a New Hampshire teenager for defacing a couple of websites, there is no indication that the perpetrator of the widespread February 9 Denial of Service attacks is even close to being identified. Why Would Anyone Need More Than 50 IP Addresses?
A major “issue” (a/k/a bug) has been uncovered in Windows 2000 Server. A consulting firm has found that administrators cannot add more than 51 IP addresses – potentially a tremendous problem for ISPs and other customers.

NET WINDOWS CE: robustness and powering your Internet business and so forth, this appears to be something of a black eye. We expect the folks at Red Hat, and Sun CEO Scott McNealy, to milk this for all they can. The FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) that competitors will apply (depending on Microsoft s resolution of this issue) will re-raise the specter of Windows not being a bet your business OS. Unless this issue is resolved quickly, and to the satisfaction of the Microsoft-neutral observers, this problem has the
