Analyzing Full-duplex Networks
Whether you’re monitoring networks for security threats, or capturing and decoding packets while troubleshooting, you need reliable ways to see the network traffic. New Era of Networks Gets Blinded By the NEON
A recent ruling by a judge in the 268th Judicial District Court in Texas has upheld a jury verdict that awarded NEON Systems $39 million in damages against New Era of Networks, which, the jury found, had a nasty habit of abbreviating 'New Era of Networks' as, guess what, Neon. If upheld on appeal, this ruling will cause the new e-business division of Sybase a lot of administrative grief and expense (not to mention the money from the jury award).

Managing 21st Century Networks
Internet protocol (IP)—used for transmitting data across networks everywhere—is now used pervasively, transmitting data to and from a multitude of devices. Arguably, IP is the most successful open standard ever, but as network communications converge under a single standard used for an increasing number of applications, we need to understand how effectively these critical assets are being managed.

Microsoft Certified Fresh
On July 14, 2000, at the Fusion 2000 business symposium, Microsoft Corp. announced new tools and programs to support the growing application hosting market. Application service providers (ASPs) can take advantage of new technical resources, partnerships, licensing and certification programs.

NORTEL NETWORKS CORP: leaders such as AT&T, Nortel, WorldCom, SAP, IBM and others offering programs supporting the Application Service Provider market, it is no surprise to see Microsoft s involvement. The Microsoft stamp of approval , or certification program may prove interesting. Not only does the certification program validate the ASP market, it will improve the adoption rate for ISV s and ASP clients. Organizations may be more willing to participate if they know Microsoft is involved. This coupled with similar programs,

Quality of Service for Next-generation Voice Over IP Networks
In order to support the requirements of voice deployments, next-generation networks must be capable of supporting a service equivalent to the existing public switched telephone network (PSTN), in terms of reliability. Furthermore, these networks must be capable of carrying voice services even under heavy load, while maintaining the integrity of the voice calls, under even the most extreme circumstances.

Epicor Software Corp.: Completing Painstaking e Volution Part 1: About Epicor
Epicor Software is one of the first vendors and possibly the only mid-market vendor able to natively embrace customer and supplier activities tied to a core transactional back-office system. Fiscal 2001 will prove to be very challenging for Epicor Software and we believe the next 18 months will be the company's make-or-break period.

NORTEL NETWORKS CORP: is Onyx Software, while Clarify/Nortel or Pivotal are strong partnership candidates. Failing to do so will enable J.D. Edwards to regain and fortify its #4 ERP vendor position within the same time period (70% probability). Within the next 3 years, more than 65% of Geac s license revenues will come from JBA System 21 and Geac SmartStream product lines (60% probability). During the same time, more than 75% of its total revenue will come from license revenue (60% probability) based on the company s need to

Management for Next-generation Multi-service System Networks
The history of telecommunications management is rife with examples of good technology failing to meet business requirements. Historically, while business has needed management of service definitions, technology has focused on element management, leaving a gap between what is desired and what is possible. If operational expenses are to be lowered, this gap must be closed.
