If you said “budget, buy-in, and boardroom politics,” you’re wrong. Because that’s three pitfalls. We’ll get into those another time. Miscommunication, on the other hand, will torpedo your software selection project faster than a Mark 46. Here’

TEC Vendor Showdowns Generate a Lot of Interest

Here at TEC, our most popular feature is something we call a Vendor Showdown. We take two or three vendors who market the same type of solution (ERP or CRM or business process management, or HR, etc.), and compare their functionalities head on. The results are based on the most recent RFI information we gather from the vendors. As a quick example, our discrete ERP RFI contains a list of  3,690

rfi vendor  The vendors fill out the RFI by indicating whether or not they support each of the 3,690 feature functions, and if they do, how. For each feature function, the choice of vendor responses are: supported out of the box, not supported, supported via 3rd party solution, supported by modification, supported by customization, or not yet rated by the vendor.  All we do then is run all the responses through our decision support engine and write an article discussing the results, illustrated by some graphs. That’s No Ordinary RFI-Why BPM and the TEC RFI Are So Important to Your Software Selection Project

If you’re currently involved with your company’s software selection and implementation project, then I’m sure you can appreciate how difficult this process is. Behind the Scenes of TEC’s Vendor Showdowns

TEC’s Vendor Showdown series is the most popular regular feature that we run here at TEC. So far, we’ve run quite a few Showdowns, and usually things go smoothly, but sometimes there’s more that goes on than meets the eye—and then it’s usually problems, as you’ll see in a moment. I should know, I’m the person who writes TEC’s Vendor Showdowns. For those who've never seen one, Showdowns compare

rfi vendor  all of the vendor RFI data in the Showdowns will have been certified to be accurate by our TEC analyst team in conjunction with the vendor in question. That should help prevent vendors from being concerned that their competitor’s data in a Showdown is anything less than completely accurate. Thirdly, we’ve had a couple of Showdowns that never even saw the light of day. I like to think of them as The Showdowns that Almost Were . One was an LMS Showdown with two vendors (it was going to the first of a Read More

What Does Vendor Consolidation Mean To The End User?

End-user companies should track the financial health of their vendors to see if the vendor will be a collector or one of the collected. If the end-user company has a focused vendor, think of that vendor's health and help them become even better in your type of business. If your vendor is acquired, meet the new owners. The new owners motivation in buying your product and vendor was the install base and that's you. Showing interest is your part in keeping the relationship the way you want it.

The 11th Vendor Shootout for ERP: Observations - Part 2

Retail Applications Vendor Provides a Solid "Platform"

As spending on technology by major players is growing at an increasing pace, there are good opportunities for vendors which have been in the market for a while, such as One Network Enterprises. But they also face some unique challenges.
