PeopleSoft Plays Hardball
No more a nice guy with PeopleSoft! Its strong Q4 2000 results and alleged string of wins over its direct competitors have stirred up some emotions and knee-jerk dismissive reactions. Whatever the case may be, look for a vigorous PeopleSoft participation in many future software selection deals.

The following are the major highlights that were announced or occurred since PeopleSoft s last earnings release: PeopleSoft announced PeopleSoft 8 CRM, an Internet-based suite of CRM applications that is currently scheduled for release in mid-2001. PeopleSoft Joins The Hunt For SMEs

SAP PEOPLESOFT REVIEW: (for more information, see SAP Claims Big Gains In The Low-End Battleground ). It appears that PeopleSoft will follow suit and one should look for its vertical solutions general availability announcements in the future. As a recap, the major factors of success in business applications for the small and mid market segment are price, speed of implementation, vertical focus, product suite integration, product scalability and scope expandability, and a single point of contact. PeopleSoft seems to have

PeopleSoft Manufacturing - This Time For Sure?!
PeopleSoft claims that its next major release, PeopleSoft 8, which is due in a few weeks time, will allay persistent perceptions that PeopleSoft is still not a full-fledged player in manufacturing.

PeopleSoft Supply Chain Is Music To Mid Market Ears
PeopleSoft has once again proven the naysayers wrong about its ability to sell supply chain management. Its Accelerated Supply Chain Management offering bundles core e-business functionality into a scaled down package for the mid market, a segment that not even SCM market leader i2 has conquered.

SAP PEOPLESOFT REVIEW: rivals like Oracle and SAP . The win at O-Cedar Brands proves otherwise and is not merely a fluke. PeopleSoft has a distinct advantage over the pure-plays by its ability to offer a broader range of applications in conjunction with its supply chain solution. The components of Accelerated SCM that offer the most differentiation are certainly the financials, such as general ledger, payables, and receivables. These represent critical areas in any organization that usually are not well integrated to

PeopleSoft Gathers Manufacturing and SCM WherewithalPart Two: Market Impact
The PeopleSoft-J.D. Edwards merger was, in great part, about retaining the big five (or big four, or big three) seat and the need to be bigger within shrinking market opportunities. The combined vendors should now a have solid foothold against SAP and Oracle, particularly because one better-performing side could, if necessary, cover up for the underachieving one.

SAP PEOPLESOFT REVIEW: Although in dispute with SAP for second place (behind Siebel) in the customer relationship management (CRM) market, PeopleSoft possibly remains the only vendor among several dozens ERP vendors able to seriously sell beyond its base in stand-alone CRM applications. PeopleSoft had even developed around thirty individual applications within the realm of SCM and manufacturing, and the supply chain product modules can be combined in several ways for different sectors and their requirements. For example, a

PeopleSoft 8 Launched – Anything to Write Home About?
PeopleSoft, once a high flyer owing to its congenial culture and slick ERP product, has unveiled a number of new, possibly revolutionary enterprise applications that it hopes will help it end a protracted dry season and put it back on the ERP top chart. The company has invested two years and over a half billion dollars to develop the product. It has now emerged with a new platform, a new set of products and a new attitude of lambasting competition.

SAP PEOPLESOFT REVIEW: behind e-business projects. Like SAP and Oracle, PeopleSoft should also carefully reevaluate its product migration strategy from current product instances (7.5 and earlier), in order not to alienate and disillusion its loyal customer base. PeopleSoft 8 has allegedly disconcerted some users because its licensing model requires that existing customers re-license its older software, rather than pay a lower upgrade charge as with previous updates. Some customers may see this as only another hefty investment w

The Company went public in 1992 and has grown from a $113 million HRMS vendor in 1994 into a $1.3 billion software powerhouse in only five years (see PeopleSoft, Inc. Annual Results Chart). During its international e-business conference, SAPPHIRE, SAP displayed a bullish attitude, contradicting the current market malaise. Expanding outside its traditional ERP stronghold into five attractive technology areas, as well as the realization that no vendor can be ‘all things to all people’ might be the necessary ingredients of the formula for future SAP success.
